3. Login VSI 3.0
Release date: December 13, 2010
Completely new launcher solution:
- Streamlined & simplified GUI including all Login VSI configuration options.
- 100% central configuration of tests.
- Slave launchers can be remotely configured, started and reset for the next test.
- Tests can be started from a single console.
- [PRO only] New Parallel launching mode to support very large scale tests (10000+ sessions).
- [PRO only] Workload mash-up allows to combine different workloads in a test.
New, improved, turn-key Login VSI workloads:
- New default Login VSI workload will alternate between 2 medium workloads variants. The first loop is with Flash video presented in Internet Explorer, the second loop without. Once one loop variant is finished, the other will start, alternating throughout the test.
- The flash app GetTheGlass is replaced by the “Kick-Ass” 480p movie trailer in flash format (.flv) which is run within IE.
- Now FreeMind (an open source JAVA application) is added to the medium workload.
- Random start delay of max 15 second, to prevent workload synchronization
- Automatic loop length adjustments. Normally the total loop length increases, when the load is higher. With Login VSI 3.0 automatically the build-in pauses are decreased so the total loop length stays the same, also when the system is close to saturation.
- [PRO only] Workload customization can now be set globally and configured for specific workloads.
- [PRO only] Updated the light, heavy and multimedia workloads to include all changes mentioned above.
Completely revised logging structure:
- No more VSI_Log.xxxx, but SESSIONNUMBER_USERNAME_COMPUTERNAME.log
- The Log files is now using comma delimited CSV formatting
- Logfiles are now stored in VSI Share\_VSI_Results\ActiveTestName\Results
- Active sessions are not based on sessions launched, but truly active (logged on) sessions
Completely new analyzer, based on the MSchart add-on for .Net 3.5 sp1:
- Fully automatic analysis (including stuck sessions).
- Dynamic charting (right click on the chart to set axis).
- Result selection and highlighting (similar to perform: right click in the lower window).
- Detailed charting.
- Export Chart to PNG (other format will follow).
- Export data to CSV.
- Local Access database to cache analysis.
- Noise reduction in VSImax: 2% of the highest and lowest average Login VSI response times will be removed from VSI max calculation to lower noise in the results.
- New Dynamic VSImax 3.0 calculation: The VSImax threshold is based on the first 15 response time samples.

4. Login VSI 2.3
Release date: April, 2010
Changes in Login VSI 2.3:
- Improved VSImax timer: more diverse activities are measured to evaluate the response time of the desktop session. Most significant is that now also the start-time of MS Word and the timer-document is measured. As a result, VSImax will respond better to disk I/O bottlenecks.
5. Login VSI 2.1
Release date: January 05, 2010

- Updated VSImax 2.0 to 2.1 to improve accuracy (e.g. VSImax is reached when CPU is around 100%).
- Switch from launching calc.exe to notepad.exe in response time measurement (calc.exe footprint is much bigger in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2).
- New Login VSI PRO workload “MediumNoFlash” which disables the CPU intensive Flash app used in Internet Explorer.
- VSI.exe is now running native 64-bit instead of x86 when running on x64 Windows, still 32-bit IE is launched because of flash support.
- Citrix XenApp 6 support.
- Custom scripts added to the Login VSI PRO workload can use Login VSI settings through environment variables.
- It is now possible to specify a custom interval for session intervals.
- New Login VSI customization framework with image detection (VSI Foundation only).
Fixes in Login VSI 2.1:

- AD Setup now generates a GPMC missing warning when running on Windows 2003x64.
- AD Setup now requires Admin right to prevent UAC errors.
- Slave Launchers can be started before the Master launcher.
- When launchers are finished, active session cleanup is performed only after choosing OK.
- Launcher now fully supports x64 Windows.
