What's New in Login PI 3.5?

What's New in Login PI 3.5?

Netscaler, SLA Reporting, Event Logging features and so much more! At the end of June, we released a new version of Login PI 3 bursting with new features and enhancements. There are so many that I could write pages of blog about it, but let’s just keep it simple and focus on some of the big items.

You can always refer to the release notes for a comprehensive list of all the additions and changes to the product. Oh yeah…and our user guide documentation continues to get better and better.

So, in our 3.5.9 release, the top three enhancements are:

  1. The addition of a Netscaler (also known as Citrix ADC) connector
  2. Big improvements with SLA reporting
  3. A new Windows Event Logger agent

One thing you can continue to expect from every new version of Login PI is that it just gets faster and easier to use, it gets more resilient and more secure.

Let’s take a closer look at the top three enhancements.

The Netscaler Connector – because Netscaler is everywhere!

In the past we used custom connectors and scripts to facilitate connection to our targets from the Login PI Launchers. This made for a functional solution, but it just wasn’t easy enough, or fast enough for our customers. Today, with Login PI 3.5, you can use our connector wizard to automatically setup resilient connections through Netscaler version 12.1 and 13.0 in seconds when creating a new environment. It’s super easy. See the connector wizard below…

Big Improvements in SLA Reporting – A.K.A. make your boss happy!

Many of our customers like to provide reports to their management or their customers in the case of service providers. Login PI 3 SLA reports allow administrators to setup daily, weekly (new) or monthly automated reporting, which can be setup to email to a specified recipient as soon as the report is generated. Reports can also be manually generated (new) and deleted (new) as well. Some other cool new features with SLA reporting are that a custom logo can be used in the report as well as more detail on specific application performance and availability, giving our customers a total report that includes Login Success, Login Performance, Latency, Application Performance, and Application Success.

Login PI 3 Windows Event Logging – have your cake and eat it too!

So, if you haven’t heard, yes Login PI 3 does not run on Windows, which is awesome because it buys us faster dev cycles, more resilient functionality, greater scalability, virtual appliance install times of minutes and a lower cost system. One of the cool things about Windows is the Event Log. It gives our customers the ability to tie it in to their operations frameworks, schedule actions when an event happens and more. To use this feature all you have to do is find a Windows machine, download the installer from the Login PI 3 virtual appliance, and install.

As I said earlier, there are a ton more features and functions in this release so I dare you to look at the release notes when you get a chance. You’ll find resiliency, ease of use, security, launcher details, encryption for application credentials, and many UI improvements.
