Login VSI 4.1.25 Offers Improved Performance and New Dashboard Features
Over the last few months we have been working hard to add several new features and improvements in Login VSI. Today we are releasing 4.1.25, and here are some things you can look forward to.
First we’ll start with a beta feature that will help you to know more about your VMware vSphere servers at certain levels of saturation. Many of our customers run into either compute or storage bottlenecks during their scalability testing. Exploring the host’s data can offer a great view into which resource is causing the bottleneck and when correlated with VSImax, it is easy to pinpoint just where that bottleneck started to cause too much latency for the end-user. Now Login VSI will allow you to point at one of your vSphere hosts to automatically collect the most relevant ESXtop data. We’ll help you to set it up, collect it and correlate it.
Next, we know that stuck sessions are a part of working out the kinks with a Login VSI large scale test run, so we are doing anything we can to save you time and reduce problems during your initial runs with Login VSI. We’ve improved several of our connectors so that there are plenty of details to help diagnose any issues connecting to your sessions. We’ve also improved the Login VSI dashboard to display more information on how many active sessions are being run per launcher. When a test is running, there is now an extra column in the Launchers section called Active Sessions containing this detailed information.
In addition to the improved logging and dashboard information we have also improved the performance of the analyzer by up to 600% and added several new graphs based on the expertise of our support team, which can greatly help with troubleshooting. If your test is being run on a desktop pool cluster of many servers, it is helpful to see if one of the hosts is behaving differently from the others. With the VSImax Per Computer Graph you can quickly assess if a node in the cluster is behaving poorly or potentially unable to deal with automated load balancing. Other new graphs will show Stuck Sessions and Active Sessions over time, which may allow you to correlate certain host events with an increase in stuck sessions. This can all be helpful in working out some of the issues in your configuration, or reaching that expected scalability point where you get the most efficient desktop to server ratio.
We hope these new features help you, and we look forward to your feedback!
