Login VSI Customers Talk, We Listen (Survey Results)

We love hearing how our customers are gaining true business and operational value by using Login VSI. We believe that receiving customer feedback should be a fundamental part of our company to improve our products and services. That’s why we organized a second customer survey (click here for the results of our first survey in 2015) with third party TechValidate a couple of months ago to gain new feedback from our customers. In this blog I would like to share some of the facts from this survey.

Deliver the best experience

Our software helps to deliver the best end user experience, but of course we also want to make sure that the actual users of our software are happy. Here are some of the statistics from our Login VSI users:

  • 89% of surveyed customers are satisfied with Login VSI’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • 90% of surveyed customers are satisfied with Login VSI’s ease-of-use.
  • 90% of surveyed customers are satisfied with Login VSI’s turn-key workloads.
  • 83% of surveyed customers are satisfied with Login VSI’s easy to understand results.
  • 73% of surveyed customers are satisfied with Login VSI’s workload customization.

As you can see our workload customization received the lowest percentage of satisfied customers (73%). We take feedback from our customers very seriously and that’s why we recently launched the new Workload Editor Beta. This feature was not yet available when we sent the survey, so we are curious how this will impact survey results in the future.

Confidence with actionable data

VDI is complex. With shared resources, systems behave unexpected. Login VSI helps IT administration focus on the end user experience by providing performance data and insights. In conversations with customers, we hear that Login VSI gives them confidence. One respondent, an infrastructure manager at a Global 500 Health Care company says, “Login VSI provides you with the confidence and assurance that the environment is going to work.”

When user experience is highly subjective, IT administration can be more confident by having read data in the forms of baseline performance, VSImax and benchmarks. “The tool is a solid solution and there aren't many other options in the market to produce this type of load on the system and break it down to a consumable result set.” -IT Vice President, Global 500 Banking Company.

Using Login VSI at the inception phase of a greenfield VDI deployment can help make sure resources are not over or under-provisioned to support the performance needs of end users. “Login VSI has been instrumental in helping us validate our infrastructure for VDI and has allowed us to develop a scaling plan for future rollouts.” -IT Manager, Virtualization, Large Enterprise Company. 

Change management

Benchmarking, load testing, stress testing. These are critical steps to take when starting your VDI project to make sure you right-size your environment. But what’s next? The inception phase of a project can be 3 months, yet the production phase will last 3-5 years. It turns out, using Login VSI is also a critical part of the production phase to manage the impact of change. 71% of our customers are using Login VSI when they are already 2 or 3+ years in production.

Using Login VSI in production will reduce the risk of a negative impact to your end users from software patches, hot-fixes and updates connected to your VDI environment. Login PI is our monitoring product that alerts administration when login times are slow, allowing a more proactive approach to end user experience. Product Manager Mark wrote a great blog about the VDI lifecycle and how Login VSI and Login PI help IT to get ahead of trouble tickets and deliver the best end user experience possible.

Lab vs Production

We also learned how our customers are using Login VSI in lab and production. It’s quite interesting to realize that 75% of our customers (19% + 41%) use Login VSI in their production environment. Testing in production will make sure that your environment is exactly the same as your real end-users. I just hope for the sake of the real end-users that these stress tests are not executed during business hours :-)

Operational benefits

We also asked what types of operational challenges were solved by deploying Login VSI. Almost half (47%) of our surveyed customers mentioned that Login VSI helped them to deliver a faster desktop. Reducing IT costs (30%), improving desktop uptime (30%) and end user efficiency (30%) were also selected by a lot of our customers. I think that these statistics really show that we help IT departments to deliver the best end-user experience in VDI.

Because VDI is so complex, and because end user experience is subjective, the benefits of actionable insights go beyond the obvious cost savings and improved resource allocation. Better data and a focus on end user experience translates to greater efficiency, a more proactive approach, and less downtime. Using Login VSI, together with Login PI, can bring you the same benefits as other customers.
