Include user experience in Splunk with Login PI

The latest release of Login PI features an updated version of our API. You can use this API to leverage other solutions through integration, allowing you to have a centralized solution where you can view the performance of all your environments.

To enable this, we have created a prototype Splunk App, which is fully integrated with Login PI. This Login PI Splunk App collects all the statistics from Login PI and displays them in a beautiful dashboard.

What is Splunk?

“Splunk Enterprise monitors and analyzes machine data from any source to deliver Operational Intelligence to optimize your IT, security and business performance. With intuitive analysis features, machine learning, packaged applications and open APIs, Splunk Enterprise is a flexible platform that scales from focused use cases to an enterprise-wide analytics backbone.”

What is the benefit of the Login PI Splunk App?

Monitoring solutions like Splunk are great at collecting system information from multiple sources. This helps you understand the load on your resources in your environment. But does this reflect the user experience? 100% CPU utilization may not result in a bad user experience. With the virtual user of Login PI, you can add this user experience to generate the complete environment overview.

The Login PI Splunk App

When installing the Login PI Splunk App, a simple setup page helps you configure the integration with Login PI. This helps make sure Splunk knows where to collect the Login PI data from.

The Login PI Splunk App uses multiple PowerShell scripts to collect the virtual user metrics.

Once you have configured the Login PI Splunk App, Splunk will capture the data and will populate the dashboard with the results.

By default, the API collects the data for all the configured profiles, consequently the Splunk dashboard lets you switch between different profiles and timeframes.

What our customers are saying

Bill Galloway - Pivot3

“The labs at Pivot3 have hundreds of machines. A portion of those are running different Login VSI configurations so we can be constantly configuring with different hardware to see how that affects desktops. Then we tweak the RAM and CPU, and tune so we know how many users we can support.”

Bill Galloway, Founder and CTO at Pivot3

Tony Reynolds - 23Technology

"As a cloud and virtualisation consultancy, 23Technology use Login VSI to prove the scalability of our paper designs for our customers. It has become an important part of our assurance process. In one instance, it helped us to successfully complete a project by showing that, with correctly configured anti-virus, the designed solution scaled to meet our client’s needs."

Tony Reynolds, Technical Director at 23Technology

Tristan Todd - VMware

“Login VSI is my favorite test orchestration and simulation tool for large-scale reference architecture testing. Not only do we use it in our testing, but we work with partners who use Login VSI exclusively, with the idea that you create the most realistic simulated workload at scale, to really test infrastructure and software capabilities. What’s more, getting the results and be able to measure yourself across platforms and across vendor solutions is just fantastic and is unequalled in the industry.”

Tristan Todd, EUC Architect at VMware
