Login VSI Product Update: 4.1.3 Released

Login VSI Product Update: 4.1.3 Released

I would like to introduce you to Login VSI 4.1.3, available today. This update is packed with new functionality, improved workflows and a few bug fixes. For the detailed release notes check this page.

Orange is the new Orange

Thanks to our world-class marketing department (with editorial rights on this blog), Login VSI has a new logo that is now part of the product. As a Dutchman, I really like the color orange. Search for “King’s Day Amsterdam” on Google to find out why. You are invited to join me and other Login VSI enthusiasts on April 27.

More test information in the Analyzer

If King’s Day doesn’t get you pumped up, updates to the look and feel of the Management Console and Analyzer will. After a test, the Analyzer will now automatically open with an information tab that contains a lot of basic information about the test. For example: Did my test have a good baseline? Did I execute the right size of test? And how many and what sessions got stuck?

Large scale tests

Let’s face it, VDI environments are getting larger by the day. This means that Login VSI has to be able to test extremely large environments more often. Although large-scale tests have always been possible with Login VSI, we have worked on a lot of tweaks that make the process of executing and analyzing these tests much easier.

Run a test without the Session Monitor

As we continuously strive to improve the ease-of-use for our software, we have devised a way of working wherein the Session Monitor is no longer required for a test. This option is currently disabled by default but feel free to give it a spin (and please let us know what you think).

Improved Citrix XenApp / Microsoft RDS performance tests

Some time ago, it came to our attention that the timer mechanism Login VSI uses can have a significant impact on the test results. The relative overhead of these timers on Server Based Computing (or Citrix XenApp) platforms was too high. That’s why Login VSI 4.1.3 will now automatically detect when it’s running on an SBC machine and adjust the number of timers accordingly. Please note that the timer itself has not changed so results gathered in the past are still comparable.

What’s next?

The (also world-class) Login VSI dev team is currently working on a visual workload editor. This means that, in the future, scripting will no longer be required to add or remove your business apps from the workloads. So it will be even easier to perform tests in greater detail using more of your applications in the personalized workloads.

Where to download?

Login VSI 4.1.3 is now available at www.loginvsi.com/download. Current Login VSI users can download the upgrade patch. As long as your support and maintenance are current, your existing license will work with Login VSI 4.1.3. New users will need to download the full setup and can request a free trial license here.

What our customers are saying

Sajad Shah - Cancer Research

"Login VSI has empowered us to make more informed decisions on releasing a new vDisk which we now do on a monthly basis. We have found that Login VSI tests can also flag other issues in our environment that may not be picked up by our standard User Testing which allows us to either make the appropriate changes to the vDisk or workload script adjustments to run successful tests. This has given us peace of mind and allows us to release VDI’s with confidence."

Sajad Shah, Senior Technical Analyst at Cancer Research UK

Bill Kleyman - MTM Technologies

"From the engineering perspective and from the architecture perspective, we absolutely love the technology behind Login VSI. We actually use Login VSI as a pro-active tool to help our customers understand the dynamic nature of a datacenter and the business."

Bill Kleyman, VP of Strategy and Innovation at MTM Technologies

Nick Couper - Bet365

"LoginVSI is an essential tool for our company which enables us to load test our virtual desktop environment so that we can capacity plan with confidence. We would struggle to benchmark our systems without it."

Nick Couper, IT Services Delivery Manager at Bet365
