This tutorial will explain how to use custom settings on a package.

The first step is to create a new package.

After we have created a package, we can add a custom setting to it by choosing the Add new from the Package>Settings tab.

Choose a type and give the setting a meaningful display name, variable name, display group and a value.

Now we can use the variable name (%demo_cs%) in action items in this package and it will set the variable to the value supplied during run-time.

Note 1: To see the name of the variable, simply hover over the display name of the setting and it will be displayed in the tool tip.

Note 2: These custom settings can also be used in files and scripts, but be sure to enable the Expand Environment variables option for those action items.
