WI Connect does not start resource

I couldn't find anything existing in the forum on this, but excuse me if it has been addressed.
Using ctxconnect works fine to login a session to WI, I get a starting resource, but the desktop is just not launched.
I tried enabling protected mode in IE, no difference there.
Debug mode shows no errors.
Is there something easy I am missing here?

Is there a difference between the desktops display name and the actual resource name?

Hi Ryan,

I want to expand on what my colleague asked you.
First: whether it is a XenDesktop or XenApp connection/environment?

Regards,

Omar

Yes it is still occurring. We could do a meeting this afternoon if that works? I am in central time zone.

Ryan and i found a workaround for this issue. This issue only seemed to happen on version 5.3 of the Citrix web interface. Websites created with version 5.4 of the web interface do not result in this issue.

For anyone else experiencing this issue who is unable to upgrade to version 5.4 of the web interface, we have an alternative method to connect to Xenapp applications. Contact me or post a reply for more information

Yes I can confirm Dennis' findings.
Also if you in place upgrade from 5.3 to 5.4 any sites that are upgraded as a part of the upgrade process also exhibit the issue.
You need to create a new site under 5.4.
Also the alternative method using icaconnect is also a suitable workaround IMO.

Thanks Dennis!

Alright, that should work.

Looking at your command line your desktop(group) is named Desktop right?

Yes

The icaconnect string that works is :

\\mvt.desjardins.lab\TestPlans\LoginVSI\ICAConnect\ICAConnect.exe /server dwintts55 /application Desktop /user Login_VSI%COUNT% /password Password! /domain MVT /encryption RC5-128

ICAconnect connects, but it appears no results are captured- no active sessions are shown.

However the 10 desktop sessions are loaded and conencted, I stopped one, and saw the network mapped drives seemed to be there....

I did check the share, I created files as LOGIN_VSI1 and deleted them.....so permissions do not appear to be an issue.

Many things in one thread....I know

Hi

I have a Windows 2008 R2 Agent and Launcher with IE9. The Web Interface is launching without any issue but the Desktop icon is not.

The environment we are testing is Citrix XenDesktop 5.6 with Web Interface 5.4
The command line used to launch the script is

\\share\CTXConnect\CTXConnector.exe -s http://webinterface01/Citrix/NoSSO/ -u Login_VSI%Count% -p Password! -d domain.live -r VDITest -t1 5 -t2 10

We confrimed that IE9 protected mode is Enabled

Is there anything else we need to be aware of to fix the issue.

The following is the log for two sessions

Thank you for the reply.
The problem still unresolved. The CTXConnector can connect to the Web Interface but cannot launch the desktop icon. Is there anyway to produce some logs?

Is is stopping here

ie.Links.Exists(Find.ById(btnLogin) exists. Trying to click)

I can confirm it is stopping at "Starting Resource". The XenDesktop VDI resource is not launching.
I tried different launchers and IE versions and it is still not working.

Hello,

Can you please confirm that both the display name and the actual name of the resource you are trying to start is VDITest? Looking at the output CTXConnect is going through the process correctly but is unable to find the resource specified.

We went with the way Citrix Consulting recommended in using Python scripts to launch the same XenDesktop machines as explained in CTX125630. The problem was not resolved, but the script provided us with a clue about the Web Interface view needed to get the script going.
As a conclusion we believe that the "List" view for Web Interface 5.4 is the view needed to guarantee the success of both scripts.

All,

Please see the solution here and either configure the separate tabs option or download the new CTXConnector.
