HI
After enabling view persona management, the outlook is struck at the initial configuration there by the test is failing .But i am able to run the test successfully using windows roaming profiles or local profiles .I am not sure what is preventing outlook to proceed further with persona management .Any help is greatly appreciated . Is logon script is not able to execute due to some permission or configuration issues? I am using VSI 3.7 and view 5.2 version .Please let me know If you come across this issue, otherwise ignore this post

Thanks

Hello Ven,

Login VSI creates an Outlook profile by importing a registry key through the logon script. The logon script runs very early in the logon process. It runs shortly after group policy has been applied. I expect that the VMware View Persona Management overwrites these settings as it runs later.

My suggestion would be to import the settings again later in the logon process. Do the following:
1. Create a batch script to import a registry file.
2. Place the batch in your VSIshare.
3. Configure the batch script to run as the first custom action.

In more detail:
1. Create a batch script to import a registry file.
Create a batch file with the following content or download it here .
IF EXIST "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\" (SET OfficeVersion=11.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12\" (SET OfficeVersion=12.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\" (SET OfficeVersion=14.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE15\" (SET OfficeVersion=15.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\" (SET OfficeVersion=11.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12\" (SET OfficeVersion=12.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\" (SET OfficeVersion=14.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE15\" (SET OfficeVersion=15.0)
echo Detected office version: %officeversion%. Applying settings

IF NOT EXIST "%systemroot%\SysWOW64\" (
regedit /s "B:\Office%OfficeVersion%.reg"
)
IF EXIST "%systemroot%\SysWOW64\" (
"%systemroot%\sysWOW64\regedit.exe" /s "B:\Office%OfficeVersion%.reg"
)

2. Place the batch in your VSIshare
Save the above script in the VSIshare. By placing the script of the VSIshare we ensure that every VSI user has access to the script. We'll refer to the script in the next step.

3. Configure the batch script to run as the first custom action.
- Go to the VSI management console and switch to the Workload Customization tab.
- Click add entry. Make sure that it is the first entry.
- Under filename add the path to the script in the VSIshare. Refer to the script by a UNC path.

Run a test and see if it solves your problem.

I found the issue .When installing the view agent in the VM ,it is creating an office15 folder in c:\Programfiles\Microsoftoffice location. The folder has LyncTsProxy.dll (PcoIP to RDP virtual channel) .The logon script dectecting this folder and setting the office version as 15 .So i deleted the following two lines in my logon script and outlook started working.

IF EXIST "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\" (SET OfficeVersion=14.0)
IF EXIST "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\OFFICE15\" (SET OfficeVersion=15.0)

My office version is 2007 and view agent version is 5.2 .Does it make sense ? or is there anyway to get rid of this issue

Thanks

Hi Ven,

This makes sense. If this works successfully I suggest to keep this.

Regards,

Omar
