SFConnect.exe crashes, or fails to find the resources with XD7

Hi,

I am testing against XenDesktop 7 and am using the SFConnect.exe v0.9 and I am seeing that a certain percentage of sessions seem to crash after connecting with a NullReferenceException. The problem details from the windos crash report are here:
Description:
Stopped working
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: sfconnect.exe
Problem Signature 02: 0.9.20.1101
Problem Signature 03: 5188c2fa
Problem Signature 04: SFConnect
Problem Signature 05: 0.9.20.1101
Problem Signature 06: 5188c2fa
Problem Signature 07: 12
Problem Signature 08: 10
Problem Signature 09: System.NullReferenceException
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
Locale ID: 1033

Also, some other sessions fail to connect initially and report "No published resources found". I have attached the SFConnectDebug.log file and the output from the VSI Agent Dos window.

Hi,

Interesting. Can you send us the RAW data of this specific test?
Looks like there's no more resources left in your XD pool.

What would the RAW data be? I just removed private info from the log file.

A team member who also uses SFConnect suggested I limit my launchers to 10 sessions and make sure they all have 2 CPUs. This has helped with the crash problems, but this still seems like a problem that needs to be addressed.

As far as resources in the pool, there were 375 machines and I ran a test using only 60 and it never got all of them connected due to crashes and failures.

Any update on this issue?

I'm seeing this problem with LoginVSI 4.x too. It uses the same version of SFConnect.exe (0.9).

Thanks,
Sujit

All,

This is most likely caused by either:
1- wrong custom command line generated or used by Login VSI
2- wrong SF setup

Customers facing this: please post the command lines (or email them support at loginvsi dot com)

So I'm seeing this again with XD7.1 on hyper-v with login vsi 4.0.8. No crashes so far but about half of the launched sessions have reported "No published reources found" even though other sessions on the same launcher were successfully launched.

Command line is here...

"{VSISHARE}\_VSI_Binaries\Connectors\SFConnect.exe" /url msix-sf02.puffin.com/Citrix/msix-win-std-pvs /user {domain}\{CSV_Username} /password "Password!" /resource m6-win-std-pvs

I was able to eliminate the instances of "No published resources found" by installing VCRedist_x86 for VC++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 on the launcher. However, the NullReferenceExceptions are still happening. This is crippling my testing so Please look into it.

Please replace SFconnect with the version found here: loginvsi.eu/Support/Dec13/SFConnectVerbose1103.zip . This version will output more debug information that will help us determine the issue.

thanks for the new binary. I tried it out on one run so far, but was unable to reproduce any crashes. I'll let you know if I catch anything but I suspect that it just needed to be rebuilt somehow, may be with different assembly references.

I was looking for a newer version of SFconnect and the link in this thread no longer works. Using latest version of product but having SFconnect has stopped working issues.

Hello,

Can you close the "SFConnect has stopped working" screen and show us the error message that is printed to the console screen? Either a screenshot or copy/paste of the text will do.
