Hi,

We are experiencing the following issue (see screenshot below)
The number of launched sessions does not update, which causes the test to run indefinitely, as the console never registers that the last session has launched successfully, and it never logoff the target users.



Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Some troubleshooting has determined the following:
  • The launcher machines are not creating the launchername_##1_##10_##0.txt file in the %VSI_Share% \_VSI_VSI_Logfiles\TestName\Monitor\LaunchedSessions folder
  • I can confirm this does not occur on Login VSI 4.1.2 and that the launcher account permissions have full access rights to the above directory.

Any help will be much appreciated

I have isolated this to the 4.1.3 launcher agent. If I run the 4.1.2 launcher agent, this works as expected.

This is fine as a workaround, but lets hope Login VSI addresses this via a patch to 4.1.3

We are aware if this issue and the dev. team is looking for a solution.
This is indeed happening with version 4.1.3. only in certain combinations.

Combinations:
- when {domain} is used in the command line for connecting to targets
- when a 'backslash' is used in front the {username} in combination with {domain} string
- other {domain}\{username} combinations

Problem in short: the 'backslash' in front the {username} and behind {domain} is being used to write files, in most/some cases.

Work-around: use "@" instead of "\".
Example: {domain}@{username} or {username}@{domain}

We are not using "\" in our command line but are still seeing launcher sessions as "0":

We use the following for our command line:
"{VSISHARE}\_VSI_Binaries\Connectors\RDPConnect.exe" /server {server} /user {username} /password {password} /nowarning

We see launched sessions as 0:

Hello Martyl,

Can you send the raw data for this test to us? Either attach it as a zip file to a reply here on the forum or email it to support. You can find the raw data in the _VSI_Logfiles folder. Zip the entire folder corresponding to the test where you have this issue.

It looks like the forum didn't allow you to attach the file. Was it one of the allowed file types? Can you rename it to one of the allowed file types, like txt?

It looks like the problem is caused by the following:
  • In 4.1.3 we've added the username to the file name of the log file that is created when a session is launched.
  • The username field might contain invalid file name characters when the domain\username format is used in the username field.
  • The launcher agent also doesn't resolve {count} or any variable for that matter for the purpose of creating this file.
In your case the slash in your count variable triggered this issue. You have 2 options to work around this:
  • Ignore the issue. The management console will show wrong timers for last session launched and time until logoff command triggered. But that won't affect the test. Once the test is started the management console simply shows informational data. It doesn't influence the actual test.
  • Use a CSV file instead. The problem with your configuration is the slash in the count variable. By using a CSV file you can avoid having to use the slash.
