Virtualization Practice podcast about Login PI for DaaS and VDI

Virtualization Practice podcast about Login PI for DaaS and VDI

A couple weeks ago I was invited to participate in the Virtual Thoughts podcast. I chatted with cloud analyst Ed Haletky (@Texiwill) about Login VSI / Login PI and where the product idea came from and some of the cool use cases people are using Login PI for.

You can find the podcast here:

Some of the things we talk about in the video:

  • Where did the name Login PI come from?
  • What is Login VSI? What does it do? How does it work?
  • What’s different about a synthetic user vs a drone user?
  • What’s the benefit of Login VSI’s predefined workloads?
  • What is VSImax, and how is it calculated?
  • What’s the difference between Login VSI and Login PI? When should I use one or the other?
  • How does Login PI monitor the production environment?
  • What’s different about measuring user experience vs collecting other performance metrics?
  • What kinds of things can Login PI monitor and alert on?
  • What improvements are coming in Login PI?
  • What platforms does Login PI work with? What about DaaS offerings?
  • Can I customize Login PI workloads with other apps?
  • Can I measure 3D graphics apps or GPU usage with Login VSI or Login PI?

During the video Edward sums up the added benefit of Login PI pretty good: “End-user experience is the key. It’s not just about the raw numbers, a load time of ½ seconds might be alright, but when it’s 3 seconds your users will start complaining. Login PI is going to let you know what the end-users are experiencing

Check it out – it’s also a rare opportunity to see me rocking the Wizard beard.
