Chipsoft & Nutanix testing EPR virtualization

In the data center of EPD application vendor Chipsoft in Amsterdam, in a dedicated test environment, their Electronic Patient Record (EPD) system Hix is running on a fully virtualized Nutanix-cluster.

The test should suggest whether hospitals can take advantage of switching to a Hix system with a virtualised Nutanix platform underneath.

Both companies expect the 'Nutanix for Chipsoft' offer to lead to a faster performance of around 35 percent and lower costs. The Nutanix-Virtualisatiecluster is scalable and customers pay for use instead of fixed licensing fees for a physical infrastructure environment.

In the test, the Hix client is tested virtualized, as is the routing, tasks and measurements and the complete flow around the data warehouse and reporting. According To Matthijs van den Berg, systems architect for healthcare at Nutanix, many recommendations have been processed. 'Chipsoft mainly finds the virtualized running of the complete version of the production database pretty exciting. It is now being looked at. '

Van den Berg gave an explanation on the cloud event Next on Tour that Nutanix organized on March 12th in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The Systems Architect explained that together with Chipsoft a wish list had been prepared for filesystem protocols, the automatic implementation of Hix-updates and Nutanix tools for orchestration and cost & compliance management.

He was supported in his speech by Marc Devos, IT-Operations manager of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Dordrecht. In 2017, this institution carried out an infrastructure renewal, partly moving to Nutanix and also the introduction of the EPD system Hix of Chipsoft. Devos told in the same presentation that the hospital itself has already carried out the first investigations for running the Chipsoft software in a virtualized Nutanix environment. 'We have done that with the test software Login PI of LoginVSI. To really benefit, we found out we will need to replace a number of components, including the VMware ESX hypervisor.'

Breakfast

Chipsoft and Nutanix also organized a breakfast session in which they updated a number of hospitals, using Hix, about the collaboration plans. The session took place before the Next on Tour cloud event started. Nutanix is travelling around the world with this event. In Utrecht the tour coincided with the Tradefair Care & ICT which took place the same week in the Jaarbeurs.

Together with American based Epic, Chipsoft is the market leader when it comes to delivering EPD software to hospitals in the Netherlands. Chipsoft also has healthcare customers in Belgium.

Windows 10 – 1909 performance results and a look ahead at 2004

Is it just me or does Windows 10 2004 just not feel right as a name? Regardless of my opinion on that, Microsoft will release this 20H1 build in April of this year. But most organizations today are not going to implement this new version right away. Market research by VDI Like a Pro shows that most enterprises today are running Windows 10 1803, or 1809.
