Canary in the Coalmine: Login PI 1.0 recorded podcast feat. Brian Madden & Gabe Knuth
Earlier this week we celebrated the general availability of Login PI. If you missed the live podcast with Brian Madden, Gabe Knuth and yours truly speaking about Login PI, listen to the recording here. We talk about Login PI and how enterprises are now able to deliver higher availability and a better end user experience. Following the podcast, Brian wrote a blog about Login PI: Login PI is the most brilliant monitoring product that I’ve been waiting 15 years for!
Since many of you are just getting acquainted with Login PI, I wanted to round up all the resources published so far so you have them at your fingertips.
Login PI works by putting synthetic users in your VDI environment and using them to provide IT Admins with insight into how the VDI environment is performing. Instead of waiting for real users to call you to let you know that they can’t login, or that “the system is slow,” Login PI’s synthetic users will find those issues and notify IT, so fixes can be initiated before the helpdesk phones start ringing.
Based on the automation engine in Login VSI, a Login PI synthetic user can do almost anything your regular users do in the VDI environment, but they also measure how long those tasks take to complete, so you can easily establish a performance baseline and get notification when performance thresholds are exceeded. You can also use Login PI to see how performance changes in your environment over time, so you can spot performance trends and address them.
If you’ve been following Login PI all along, you can jump straight to download a trial, or trial it in our hosted hands-on labs online right now. When to use Login PI and Login VSI?—check out the VDI lifecycle blog. You can also see how some of our early adopters are using Login PI already in this post. Ryan Bijkerk is the Login PI Product Owner and a Microsoft App-V MVP. He’s done some work on how to use Login PI to measure App-V performance in your VDI environment.
If you looked at Login PI during the beta or Release Candidate phase, and want to know what’s new since then, here’s the new feature list. Need help figuring out how to architect your Login PI deployment?—there’s a blog for that.
Thanks for your interest in Login PI. We are confident this product will make a difference in the quality of service IT delivers to end users. Because the end user experience makes or breaks VDI success, Login PI gets IT ahead of trouble tickets and helps administrators truly know more about the performance in their VDI environment.
