4. User and Session Management: When a slow-session ticket comes in, does your helpdesk have the visibility to fix it, or does it always end up with the one person who can? The scorecard assesses visibility, self-service capabilities, helpdesk access, and session management workflows.
5. Monitoring and Insights: Do you spot performance problems first, or does the helpdesk queue tell you? This section evaluates your ability to detect performance degradation, manage alerts, and leverage operational telemetry proactively.

The 4 AVD & Windows 365 Maturity Levels: Where Does Your Environment Land?

The goal of the scorecard isn’t just to generate a score. After completing the assessment, you’ll see where your environment falls across four maturity levels:

• Reactive: Your environment works because you make it work. Issues surface through helpdesk tickets, fixes happen manually, and most processes depend on the knowledge of one or two people. You’re spending more time keeping the lights on than improving how things run.
• Managed: Core processes are documented and repeatable, but still largely manual. Your team knows what needs to happen and can execute it consistently, but it takes significant hands-on effort. Monitoring exists, but it’s mostly backward-looking.
• Proactive: You’re ahead of most problems before users notice them. Automation handles routine tasks, image and provisioning workflows are standardized, and your team has enough visibility to act on trends rather than just react to incidents.
• Optimized: Your environment largely runs itself. Costs are understood and controlled, operations are automated end-to-end, and your team spends time on strategic work rather than day-to-day maintenance. When something does go wrong, you know about it first.
