Optimizing the EUX of Large Healthcare Applications
EMR’s are mostly used within one organization, whilst EHR’s are used to share information between organizations. The term EPR is coined in the UK, and is comparable to the USA used term EMR. In this paper we use the term EHR to refer to all these three terms for efficiency and readability.
EHR’s are now commonplace worldwide. The most widely accepted benefits named by the different suppliers, can be summarized as follows:
- Quality: Electronic registration allows for more complete (and better readable) files.
- Availability: Files are 24/7 available from any location.
- Efficiency: Less medical tests duplicated through better exchange between organizations.
- Better care: Less medical mistakes because of improved exchange between organizations.
The most important suppliers of EHR-software in the United States are: Cerner, McKesson, and Epic, who have been dominating the market for years. Besides those 3 big players Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, GE Healthcare and many others are also used in hospitals.
Login VSI designed a set of application specific workloads to be used without further adjustments for synthetic testing and proactive monitoring of your own EHR-environment. These workloads are off-the-shelf available for the most common EHR vendors such as Cerner, Epic and (Dutch vendor) Chipsoft, and can be easily adapted and created for all other EHR applications
