Workspace Weekly: Java Access Bridge in Login Enterprise for Smarter Workloads
July 1, 2025
We’re excited about the latest from Workspace Weekly, a sneak peek into a new experimental feature: Java Access Bridge integration for Login Enterprise! Basically, it allows you to validate and verify exactly what your users are doing in Java applications.

Figure 1: The virtual user in Login Enterprise sets up IntelliJ IDEA options and makes sure the plugins are all installed using the Java Access Bridge integration. From there, you might want to take it a step further and automate the compile and build processes. That way, you can quickly catch any issues and be confident that your developers’ code runs smoothly every single time. Think of the possibilities!
Whether you’re running production checks, comparing images, or conducting full-load testing, this tool fits perfectly into your existing setup. Java UIs have always been tricky to automate, but now they’re within reach.
The Challenge
Java apps, whether on desktops or virtualized environments, usually require manual testing or clunky workarounds. That means more time spent on QA, potential bugs slipping through, and unplanned downtime for your mission-critical systems.
Our Solution
Enter the Java Access Bridge (JAB), an extension built by Login VSI’s Nick Burton, slots into Login Enterprise’s workload engine and its meta-language. You can find everything you need in the GitHub repo:
- Project and Documentation: JABHelper
- Status: It’s experimental, but the code is open for you to try.
Expert Perspective
Here’s some insight from Nick Burton, the engineer behind this integration:
“Java applications, given their nature, present an immediate challenge for any sort of automated testing. The only thing our automation engine sees are the visual outputs in one big box. That’s why Java created the Java Access Bridge – to primarily help with these limitations from an accessibility standpoint. Once I discovered that Java Access Bridge outputs the X, Y coordinates as part of the control information, I knew there was potential for success.
Now that this integration is completed, our customers can leverage Login Enterprise for automated testing of Java applications for both performance and functionality. Whether that be in a pre-production test/dev scenario or 24×7 continuous testing in production, Java apps are now fair game!”– Nick Burton, Senior Sales Engineer, Login VSI.
Why It Matters
- Complete Java UI Visibility
Automate interactions with menus, buttons, forms, and tables inside Java apps, whether during production, load tests, or image comparisons.
- Expand Your Testing Horizons
Include Java workflows in your regression, acceptance, or compliance suites, cover more ground without extra effort.
- Cut Down Manual Work
Say goodbye to manually clicking through interfaces. Script data entry, navigation, and validation are all fast and reliable.
- Accelerate Release Cycles
Catch UI glitches and performance dips early. This means fewer rollbacks and quicker go-lives.
- Gain Better Insights
Capture real metrics on how responsive your Java UIs are under various user loads. Gain valuable data to inform improvements.
Imagine the Possibilities
- Big Finance Validation Example: Imagine your reconciliation forms passing thousands of simultaneous UI checks without breaking a sweat.
- Confidence in Desktop Apps: Test your critical Java tools on physical or virtual desktops to make sure they stay up and running before a big release.
- Production Readiness Checks: Do real-world Java UI testing during vital business hours. Spot issues before customers see them.
All this adds up to less manual testing hours and more peace of mind. Who wouldn’t want that?
