November 27, 2023

This HPE Reference Architecture provides architectural guidance for designing and deploying VMware Horizon 8 with VMware vSphere 8.0 on HPE ProLiant DL325 and DL365 Gen11 servers powered by the 4th Generation AMD EPYC™ Processors.

Using Login Enterprise to benchmark performance, HPE achieved an EUX Score of 7.1 with a Knowledge Worker user count of 180 without hitting VSImax. HPE also tested the ProLiant DL365 Gen11 and achieved an EUX Score of 7.3 for 650 users without hitting VSImax. As of the date of this posting, the DL365 Gen11 has achieved the most Knowledge Worker users on a single server.

Compared to the HPE ProLiant Gen10 platform, the Gen11 offers:

  • Up to 43% reclaimed rack space1 Gen11 versus Gen10 Plus.
  • Up to 90% better price/performance2Gen11 versus Gen10/Gen10 Plus.
  • 65% power savings per year after Gen9 to Gen11 consolidation3.
